San
Juan Capistrano, California
Information & Properties for Sale
Located
just a mile from the ocean and Dana Point Harbor,
midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, San Juan
Capistrano is a city steeped in history and scenic
beauty. It can be found between Laguna Niguel and
Dana Point.
San Juan
Capistrano's heritage can be traced back to the 1700s
when Father Junipero Serra established the Mission
San Juan, which has become the third largest visitor
attraction in Orange County following Disneyland and
Knott’s Berry Farm. Many of the orange groves are
now luxury gated communities. Recognized
for its beautiful courtyard gardens and legendary
“Return of the Swallows” on March 19th of each year,
Mission San Juan is also the oldest settlement in
Orange County. The historic downtown is home to the
Mission, the historic Capistrano Depot railroad station,
has a wonderful restaurant, The Vintage and the beautiful
Los Rios Historic District.
Incorporated
in 1961, San Juan is a city of approximately 30,000
that still revolves around the mission and the centrally-located
business district. The area is a community still evolving
after more than 220 years. Much of its architecture
is still influenced by the use of red clay tile roofs
and stucco walls, reminiscent of early California
design.
